TaffGo has not launched. This policy describes how the app will handle your information when it does. Nothing here applies to anyone yet, because there are no passengers or drivers using it.
TaffGo is run by David Hooper Home Limited (company number 17018784), trading as DH Website Services. For data protection purposes we are the data controller. If you want to talk to us about any of this, the address is on the help page.
What we collect, and why
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Your name, phone number and email | To set up your account, and so a driver knows who they're picking up. Your driver sees your first name only. |
| Where you're going, and where from | To price the journey and send a car. Kept as part of the booking record. |
| Your driver's location while your ride is live | So you can see the car coming. It stops the moment the journey ends. |
| Payment details | Handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your card number — we hold a reference to it and nothing else. |
| Your device's notification token | To tell you your driver's arrived. Deleted when you sign out or uninstall. |
If you drive for us
We also hold your licence details, DBS certificate, insurance and vehicle documents. We have to: an operator can't lawfully send you a booking without checking them. They're stored privately and are only ever seen by the people who review them.
Your location is recorded while you're online and taking work, and not otherwise. Go offline and we stop. We keep one current position for dispatch, not a history of where you've been.
Who else sees it
We use these companies to run the service, and they only get what they need to do their part:
- Supabase — the database and sign-in. Hosted in Ireland.
- Cloudflare — the app's servers.
- Stripe — payments. They handle your card; we don't.
- Google Maps — working out routes, distances and addresses.
- Firebase — sending notifications to your phone.
We don't sell your information, and we don't hand it to advertisers. If the police or the council ask for booking records under a legal power, we have to provide them. Keeping and producing those records is a condition of the operator's licence we're applying for.
How long we keep it
Booking records are kept because a licensed private hire operator is required to keep them. Financial records are kept for six years, which is what tax law expects. The detailed location trail from a journey is deleted after 90 days — it exists to settle a dispute about a route, and after that it's just an old map.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account in the app, under your profile. When you do, your name, phone number, email, saved addresses and any documents you uploaded are erased.
Your booking and payment records stay, but they stop being connected to you. We're not allowed to delete them — an operator has to keep a record of bookings — so we make them anonymous instead. That's the honest position, and we'd rather say it plainly than bury it.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:
- show you what we hold about you
- correct anything that's wrong
- delete your account, as above
- give you your data in a portable form
- stop using it in a particular way, or object to how we're using it
Ask us through the help page. If you think we've got it wrong and we haven't put it right, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Children
TaffGo is not for under-18s, and we don't knowingly hold information about children.
Changes
If we change how any of this works we'll update this page and change the date at the top. If it's a significant change we'll tell you in the app rather than expecting you to notice.
